About Eric

Eric was born and raised in Leonardtown MD, attending Leonardtown Elementary, Middle, and High Schools. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with Bellavance Honors from Salisbury University with dual majors in Political Science and History and a minor in Marketing. While at Salisbury University, Eric served as president of the College Republicans, vice president of the Honors Student Association, had the highest number of volunteer hours for the Habitat for Humanity chapter, started a juggling club, and wrote a senior thesis on Decolonization in Africa. Eric delivered the commencement address at his graduation.  After graduating from SU, Eric earned a Master’s of Business Administration (MBA) degree from The College of William and Mary’s Mason School of Business, where he also served as a vice president of the MBA Student Association.

Eric has worked for several defense contractors in the area. For the last 10 years Eric has worked as a Financial Analyst at Webster Field, St. Inigoes, where he deals with program budgets in the millions of dollars and works with a diverse team of contractors and government employees. Eric has volunteered in multiple elections at all levels of government. He currently serves as the Chair of the St. Mary’s County Commission for People with Disabilities. In his free time Eric enjoys reading, kayaking, and playing Ultimate Frisbee.

Eric’s wife, Joanna, is originally from Upstate New York (her hometown is the birthplace of Jell-O!). Joanna received a Bachelor’s degree in Communications from Messiah College and a Master’s Degree from SUNY Brockport. She worked full time as a Program Coordinator at St. Mary’s College, working with underrepresented students, and part-time at Heritage Chocolates in Leonardtown. Joanna also serves on the St. Mary’s County Commission for Women and the Human Relations Commission.


Eric’s parents are also from St. Mary’s County. His father, Scott Colvin, had a career with the Federal Government at NAS Pax River and the USPS. In his free time he enjoys flying R/C airplanes and piloting model boats. Eric’s mom, Camille, has a passion for children and worked as a para-educator at Leonardtown Elementary School. Eric has four younger siblings. Brandon served in the United States Marine Corps (once a Marine, always a Marine! Semper Fi!), Kelsey works as a social worker, Nick works at a local park, and Carly is a student at the College of Southern Maryland.



Eric and Joanna live in Valley Lee and have a small flock of chickens and are hobby beekeepers. They worship at Leonardtown Church of the Nazarene.



Eric and Joanna's family grew on December 20th  at 12:20 AM with the birth of their son, Sidney Marshall Colvin. He was the perfect Christmas gift!
